HTC Touch Cruise Brings Personal GPS Navigation
Users on the move will easily be able to interact with the HTC Touch Cruise’s navigation functionality and can take advantage of HTC’s TouchFLO technology, which enhances finger touch scrolling and browsing of Web pages, documents, messages and contact lists, controlled by simply sweeping a finger across the screen. TouchFLO also offers the ability to view photos and photo slideshows using on-screen controls and to zoom and rotate images with only one hand.
Stylish and sleek in design, the HTC Touch Cruise is a further illustration of HTC’s commitment to innovation and to building a suite of touchscreen devices that cater to a variety of customer needs and styles. The HTC Home screen will provide one-touch access to emails, text messages, calendar appointments and contacts, as well as current weather conditions and forecasts for hundreds of cities around the world. Users then simply sweep their finger up the display to launch an animated, three-dimensional interface comprising three screens: Contacts, Media and Applications. The interface can be spun by swiping a finger right or left across the display, providing efficient access to the features consumers use most.
The new Touch Cruise boasts super fast HSDPA/3.5G connectivity plus Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, making it a highly connected device for consumers on the move. Its 2.8” screen is great for enjoying mobile multimedia and because it runs on Windows Mobile 6, the built-in Windows Media Player is ideal for music and movies.
Florian Seiche, VP of HTC Europe, commented, “The original HTC Touch has already been a phenomenal success, and the HTC Touch Cruise™ with fully integrated GPS adds another dimension to our leading touchscreen device family. We firmly believe in the importance of choice – one device does not fit everyone’s needs – and we’re proud to have been able to launch three HTC Touch devices since June.”
The HTC Touch Cruise utilizes mapping and navigation solutions from TomTom. This navigation software comes complete with a taster city map or the option of full maps of Western Europe. Other key features include a three megapixel auto focus camera, FM radio and Micro SD memory card slot for adding to the 128MB RAM. The device will be available form both retailers and SIM free from HTC from this month.
Launched in June 2007, the HTC Touch was the first member of the HTC Touch family and has proven to be a massive hit since it launched. The HTC Touch Dual, which features HSDPA connectivity and a sliding keypad, was launched in October 2007.Source : www.3g.co.uk

Samsung G800 3G Mobile Phone Low Down
The main feature of the G800 is that it has a 5 megapixel camera which Samsung has dubbed " the Photographer's choice".
The full specification of the 5 megapixel camera phone is :
5 Megapixel
Optical Inner Zoom ( 3X Optical, 4X Digital )
Xenon Flash, Auto Focus
Wide Dynamic Range ( WDR ), Face Detection
Image Stabilizer, Image Editor, Image Stamp
Panorama / Mosaic / Macro Shot Landscape Camera UI, Camera Lens Cover
Of course, optical zoom is common in digital cameras, but this is the first time that optical zoom has been included in a 5 megapixel cameraphone. It also comes equipped with features such as face detection, and Wide Dynamic Range (WDR), which are very up-to-date features even in today's digital cameras.
Boasting 3x optical zoom and a Xenon flash to enable close-ups and good photo quality, the G800 also comes with other features such as panorama shots, multi shots and macro shots. The 3x optical zoom is an inner zoom, where the lens does not extend outside the body of the phone, ensuring a slimmer design.
So what else is there besides the camera you ask? Well sharing images and videos is made simpler by a proprietary tool. You can also excel at video editing functions such as cutting, pasting, and editing films. There is also a mobile blogging feature which helps users to upload their favorite User Created Contents (UCC) site very easily.
The G800 looks even more like a digital camera when you look at the Graphical User Interface (GUI ) and the On Screen Display (OSD) shows various camera indicators in a horizontal preview mode.
Basically, the G800 looks much like a digital camera on one side and mobile phone on the other side. Yes its a sophisticated design and includes a two handed grip facility for when taking pictures.
The Samsung G800 is currently supported by a major advertising campaign across Europe and is expected to be available during November. 3G's next step will be to undertake a review of the Samsung G800 and this can be found on this page when completed.

Sharp Develops Super-Thin 2.2 Inch LCD for Mobile Phones
Sharp Corporation has successfully developed a 2.2-inch super-thin LCD for mobile devices with a thickness of only 0.68 mm, the industry's thinnest.
Mobile devices such as mobile phones and digital cameras are rapidly becoming thinner as manufacturers strive to improve portability and offer consumers more stylish designs. As a result, thinner embedded components such as LCDs are also increasing in demand. In addition, the increase in demand for One-Seg (terrestrial digital broadcast) compatible handsets is leading to demands for greater visibility and higher image quality in displays intended for mobile devices.

iPhone Contains Hazardous Chemicals and Materials, says Greenpeace
An independent scientific laboratory tested 18 internal and external components of the iPhone and confirmed the presence of brominated compounds in half the samples, including in the phone’s antenna, in which they (1) made up 10 per cent of the total weight of the flexible circuit board. A mixture of toxic phthalate esters (2) was found to make up 1.5 per cent of the plastic (PVC) coating of the headphone cables.
The insight into the components of the iPhone is presented in the Greenpeace report, ‘Missed call: the iPhone’s hazardous chemicals’ (3). This is the third time that Greenpeace has tested an Apple product since 2006. Similar analyses of a MacBook Pro and an iPod Nano also revealed the presence of brominated flame retardants and PVC in some components.
Apple launched the iPhone into the US market in June 2007. The discovery of hazardous chemicals suggests that Apple is failing to make early progress, even in entirely new product lines, towards achieving its commitment to phase-out all uses of brominated compounds and PVC by the end of 2008.
“Steve Jobs has missed the call on making the iPhone his first step towards greening Apple’s products” said Zeina Alhajj, Greenpeace International toxics campaigner. “It seems that Apple is far from leading the way for a green electronics industry as competitors like Nokia already sell mobile phones free of PVC.”
Dr. David Santillo, Senior Scientist at the Greenpeace Research Laboratories, co-ordinated the project and deconstructed the iPhone for analysis. He said, “Two of the phthalate plasticisers found at high levels in the headphone cable are classified as “toxic to reproduction, category 2” because of their long-recognised ability to interfere with sexual development in mammals. While they are not prohibited in mobile phones, these phthalates are banned from use in all toys or childcare articles sold in Europe. Apple should eliminate the use of these chemicals from its products range.”
During its analysis, Greenpeace also found that the iPhone’s battery was, unusually, glued and soldered in to the handset. This hinders battery replacement and makes separation for recycling, or appropriate disposal, more difficult, and therefore adds to the burden of electronic waste.
“Apple needs to re-invent its iPhone…in green,” continued Alhajj. “The company needs to design out all hazardous substances and materials from its products so that a real solution is found for the growing mountain of e-waste,” concluded Alhajj. “Whether the iPhone model due for European release in November 2007 also relies on brominated internal components and PVC is a question Steve Jobs needs to answer.”

Motorola RAZR 2 V8 Phone Review
Sharper RAZR 2 Moto
Motorola’s RAZR 2 V8 updates the familiar RAZR brand with a sharp new look, but is that enough to win consumers over? 3G.co.uk finds out.
With the release of the well-equipped Nokia N95 and the innovative, much-anticipated Apple iPhone, mobile manufacturers are having to make sure they’re not left behind. Following the success of its breakthrough handset, the RAZR V3 (a handset that continues to sell well even today), Motorola has launched its follow-up, the RAZR 2 V8.
Even the packaging of the V8 gives you the feeling you’re about to experience a well-groomed handset. Once you’ve pulled the golden ribbon, the V8’s box transforms, before popping up to reveal the shiny handset in all its glory. The phone looks fantastic with its glossy metal front finish and two-inch external screen. In truth, it’s not too dissimilar to its predecessor – although Motorola has managed to make it 2mm thinner – and this is not such a bad thing. The V8 has still got that slick feel we’ve come to love with the various RAZRs and, although 55mm wide, it surpasses most handsets and still fits neatly in your palm.
The V8 is a tough little cookie. The internal frame is made of stainless steel that makes it durable yet relatively light at 117g. And the exterior screen is made with chemically hardened glass, which is incredibly scratch resistant. Given its appealing shine, the handset is susceptible to grubby fingerprints on both the screen and the exterior.Read more about it here.

Our partnership with Apple is a natural fit because we are two global brands who share the same values of simplicity and innovation. The Most Dangerous File Format?
The newest trend in spam has been the use of new file types attached to spam messages, the favorite format being Adobe's PDF. It has been especially popular in spreading pump-and-dump stock spam. But don't worry! Adobe recently sought to reassure users with this statement: PDF is no more able to embed malware on an unsuspecting user's system than any other typical e-mail attachment.
This may well be true; many typical e-mail attachments are capable of spreading malware. In fact, PDFs were probably chosen by spammers because Word files are infamous as vehicles for malware. It is true that there are no known examples of PDF spam being used to spread malware (though past vulnerabilities in Acrobat Reader let PDFs compromise a PC). PDF spam represents an annoyance more than anything. For now, at least.Source:- PCmag.com

Telstra Launches 3G HSPA Products
Sierra Wireless and Telstra announced that the Sierra Wireless AirCard(R) 880U USB modem and the AirCard 880E ExpressCard are now commercially available in Australia to provide high-speed mobile access to Telstra's Next G(TM) HSPA network.
With the Sierra Wireless AirCard 880U USB modem and AirCard 880E ExpressCard operating on Telstra's Next G HSPA network, customers will be able to send email attachments, upload information, and transmit data at peak network speeds up to 1.9 megabits per second (Mbps) - significantly faster than was possible with earlier network technologies. This improvement in uplink speed, combined with peak network downlink speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps, allows for new applications such as web conferencing and live video, and significantly improves the user experience for customers working over a virtual private network.
Telstra will market the Sierra Wireless AirCard 880E as the Telstra Turbo 7 Series Express Card and BigPond Wireless Broadband 7.2 Mobile Card. The Sierra Wireless AirCard 880U will be marketed as the Telstra Turbo 7 Series Modem and BigPond Wireless Broadband USB Mobile Card.
Telstra's Next G(TM) network upgrade will also benefit customers operating an AirCard 875 PC card, which can be upgraded to take advantage of the increased downlink speed with a simple firmware update.
"The move to HSPA technology offers great benefits for mobile data customers, who will find that the significantly improved upload speed available makes sending large email attachments, for example, to be much faster," said Dan Schieler, senior vice president, Worldwide Sales for Sierra Wireless. "Telstra has shown extraordinary market leadership in quickly transitioning to new wireless technology, and we are pleased to support its deployment of HSPA and to continue to improve the mobile broadband experience for customers in Australia."
Holly Kramer, Group Managing Director, Telstra Product Management said, "Telstra is pleased to be partnering with Sierra Wireless to launch the first 7.2 data cards in the Australian market, bringing the benefits of the fastest national mobile broadband network to 98.8 percent of the Australian population."
The AirCard 880U USB modem and the AirCard 880E ExpressCard are fully compatible with HSPA, UMTS, EDGE, GPRS, and GSM network technologies on all frequencies currently used worldwide. To ensure there is always enough power support to handle peak or fringe area transmission requirements without compromising performance, the AirCard 880U USB modem includes an internal battery that supplements the power from the USB port when extra power is required.
