Solar Powered iPhone Charger

MotionTouch have produced a revolutionary Powcell solar-powered mobile phone charger, which is compatible with the iPhone.

The Powcell is slid onto the back of a mobile phone and the solar panel uses the sun to charge the device. Using solar-power is obviously makes the Powcell an eco-friendly product reducing emissions. The sleeve can be kept on your mobile at all times minimizing the risk of a dead battery.

The Powcell itself has an internal battery, which charges itself even when removed from the mobile handset. This means the phone will work when the Powcell is added, even if the battery on the phone itself is flat.

The Powcell is yet to go into full production, but has attracted huge interest from phone manufactures. Expect to see the Powcell in shops and online very soon.

Carbon Fibre Ascent Ti Mobile Phone

Continuing to lead the way with the application of innovative materials used on the world’s most exclusive mobile phones, Vertu announces the eagerly anticipated Carbon Fibre Ascent Ti.

Proclaimed as one of todays most coveted modern luxury materials, Carbon Fibre also sits at the heart of the Vertu Ascent Ti ethos of high performance with its use throughout the motorsport, marine and aerospace industries.
Vertu has now engineered this high strength-to-weight material via new sophisticated design methods to produce the intricate Carbon Fibre components required to incorporate it into the Ascent Ti.

Handcrafted in England, the Ascent Ti Carbon Fibre has been repeatedly tested to ensure the optimum amount of fibres and resin and processed together to achieve a flawless uniform look on both the flat and curved parts - testament to Vertu’s uncompromising attitude to craftsmanship and engineering.

The diagonal rib appearance of each phone is achieved using a twill carbon fibre weave process resulting in a robust and contemporary handset whilst the actual carbon fibre used has been tailor-made in the smallest 1k weave width to create a pattern profile with a perfect dimensional look.

The collection will include the Ascent Ti Carbon Fibre Limited Edition, Carbon Fibre Grip, Carbon Fibre & Aluminium Grip and Carbon Fibre & Copper Grip.

The handset will be available from August 2009 with prices available upon request.

Multi Million Dollar 3G Network Contract for NSN

Globalive Wireless Management Corp., Canada’s newest wireless network, is building a Greenfield 3G network to address the growing demand for next generation telecom services in Canada.

“Globalive Wireless will offer consumers a wireless customer experience and value proposition not previously available in Canada,” said Ken Campbell, Chief Executive Officer, Globalive Wireless. “For this, we need the robust and future-ready technology infrastructure offered by Nokia Siemens Networks. Their leading network technology solutions will provide for a lean operational model, a key benefit of building a new Canadian telecommunications company from the ground up rather than having to work through legacy platforms. We will be able to direct these cost savings to Canadians as one part of our overall value offering.”

Under the turnkey contract, the network rollout will be based on an advanced and cost-effective Build-Operate-Transfer solution (BOT) which will enable Globalive to offer new, high-quality consumer services quickly. Nokia Siemens Networks will provide Globalive with hardware and software such as the future proof, LTE-compliant Flexi Multimode Base Station, Radio Network Controller, and Network Management and Service Assurance Operating Support Systems, along with a range of services including turnkey site acquisition and construction, network integration and implementation, optimization and managed services.

Commenting on the win, Sue Spradley, head of North America, Nokia Siemens Networks, said, “Expanding Nokia Siemens Networks’ footprint in North America is a clear goal for our company, which has been evident in our recent bid for certain wireless assets at Nortel. We recognize the importance of adding jobs in Canada, contributing to the country’s leadership in wireless innovation and creating an opportunity for economic stimulus by building new communications networks. Given Globalive’s position as a new operator in Canada, this deal enables both our companies to accomplish all of these goals as we enhance the country’s communications service capabilities.”

With this contract, Nokia Siemens Networks now offers its products and services to four wireless service providers in Canada.
