Samsung Wave 723 Flip Phone
The Samsung Wave 723 is the latest in the "Wave" range and will launch in Germany this September. It will then be released in the UK a short while later. The Wave 723's official title is the GT-S7230.
The Samsung Wave comes with the Bada operating system ( the second smartphone with Bada from Samsung ), 5 megapixel camera, crystal clear 3.2-inch TFT-LCD display with an application-centric interface, 3G and WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth and video record facility with HD TV out.
In addition, it benefits from the TouchWhiz 3.0 interface, Dolphin Browser 2.0 for Android, GPS and 16 GB of on board memory.
The Samsung Wave 723 is likely to be a budget smartphone but no pricing has currently been released. As soon as we hear more we will post it here.

The latest internet rumours have suggested that O2 will launch Android 2.1 for the Dell Streak today or tommorow.
The Dell Streak originally shipped with Android 1.6, which is quite dated and this update will bring a number of improvements to the mobile.
New functions will be added which include 720p HD video recording from the rear-camera, native multi-touch support, document editing via Quick Office, support for live wallpapers and mutiple email accounts. Improvements that will be brought include improvements to the phone dialer, speed and performance enhancements and support for new applications.
The Dell Streak got a great review from us at 3G where we concluded that "Offering some impressive features, the powerful Streak is a viable alternative to the iPad."
The Dell Streak features a 5 inch touch-screen, 5 mega-pixel camera with LED flash, microSD support up to 32GB and full 3G and WiFi support.
Samsung Galaxy Tab Close Up
The Samsung Galaxy Tab was launched this week in Berlin and we hear at 3G covered the launch here.
The tablet market is very lively at the moment with LG, ViewSonic and Archos announcing Android Tablets which we covered yesterday here.
The video above lets us see what Samsung think are the main plus points for the Samsung Galaxy Tab . Looking at the video these seem to be optimized email control, augumented reality and navigation features, large display with full web browsing, eReading capabilities and a complete communications package.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab looks like one cool piece of kit.

Swype Beta for Symbian
Swype Beta for Symbian is now available for a number of Nokia S60 5th Edition touch screen phones. These include the Nokia 5800, Nokia 5230, Nokia X6, Nokia N97, Nokia N97mini and the Nokia C6-00.
Swype Beta for Symbian will make texting on the above smartphones faster and easier. Using one continuous finger motion across the touch screen keyboard its possible to input over 40 words per minute. This is demonstrated in the video above.
Swype plugs directly into the Symbian input method to ensure seamless integration with every application on the device.

Motorola announce the MileStone 2 and Defy Mobiles
Smartphones in its range, the Motorola Milestone 2 and the Motorola Defy.
The Motorola Milestone 2 is the successor to the successful Milestone and the Milestone XT720 and will run on Android 2.2.
The specification of Milestone 2 includes a 3.7 inch touch-screen display which runs at a resolution of 480*854 pixels which will provide excellent browsing and multi-media playback. A 5 mega-pixel camera is also present which has an LED Flash and will record HD video.

Samsung Wave Bada-Based SmartPhone Announced
Samsung have announced a new smartphone, the Samsung Wave.
The Samsung Wave is the first mobile that runs on Samsungs new operating system Bada. The Bada is an open-source operating system which Samsung hopes will lead to a vast array of applications and games being made by developers.
A 1Ghz Qualcomm processor powers the Samsung Wave, which means it will run at a rapid speed and will easily cope with multi-tasking. It also features a huge 3.3 inch AMOLED touch-screen, which will be perfect for multimedia playback and internet browsing. Due to the nature of AMOLED technology the screen is thinner and also doesn’t reflect much light even in bright sun.
The Wave is one of the first mobile to support Bluetooth 3.0, which is around 8 times faster than Bluetooth 2.0. Like most mobiles the Samsung Wave has strong social network credentials. It features a “Social Hub” which brings together your contracts from your social networks, email, and phonebook and puts them into one manageable list. The list contains all pictures of your chosen contact, all your interactions with them and their social network updates.

Toshiba Announce Two New Mobiles
Toshiba have announced two new mobiles phones at the Mobile World Congress.
The first new mobile is the Toshiba TG02 (pictured above) , which is the successor to the Toshiba TG01. It’s an ultra-thin device, which is just 9.9mm thick and has a huge 4.1 inch capacitive touch-screen. This makes the Toshiba TG02 the perfect device for multimedia playback as it’s of the highest quality and is a hugely portable device.
The Toshiba TG02 runs on the Windows Mobile 6.5 and has a new intuitive 3D menu system that has been tailor-made. A 1GHz processor powers the TG02, which makes it incredibly fast so it’s ideal for internet browsing and multi-media playback.

World’s First HSPA+ Android Smartphone
Huawei showcased the world’s first HSPA+ smartphone powered by Android at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The U8800 smartphone will be commercially available in the third quarter of 2010, and able to support high-speed Internet access, which is faster than existing 3G smartphones.
The U8800 uses the Android 2.1 operating system, and integrates HSPA+ capabilities to support downlink speeds of up to 14 Mb/s. This speed allows users to download a 400Mb feature-length movie within thirty seconds. The smartphone will feature a 3.8-inch wide screen, providing users with a broader field of vision and allowing them to take full advantage of a multitude of features and Internet applications.Kevin Tao, CEO, Huawei Device, said: "The customized Android smartphones reflect our long-term investment to develop high-end devices which enable operators to deliver enhanced and differentiated mobile services. Android being open to third party programs means that operators can add a number of various applications to the phone. PumaPhone Aimed At Fitness Freaks Confirmed
Puma have launched a mobile site for the new phone to build anticipation for the announcement of the Puma Phone in 5 days time.
The PumaPhone will be made by Sagem and will feature a solar-panel on the back. Precise details of the phone aren’t available, but we do know it’ll have a lot of fitness features.
Puma have stated that the PumaPhone will have a Bike tracker, Run Tracker, Pedometer and a Stopwatch which will satisfy even the biggest fitness freak. Other features include built-in GPS, Photo sharing, Video chat and a Music Turntable.
New Android Smartphone – Acer E110
I am sure we will hear an official announcement from Acer during next weeks Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Meanwhile we gleaned that it’s a GSM Quad Band, GPRS, UMTS and 3G HSDPA with the Google Android operating system.
Most of the information available mainly relates to the handsets Bluetooth communications specification but it does seem to have AGPS and GPS on board.
The new Acer E110 smartphone will be coming to Europe but when we are not sure. Will hoprfully find out more soon.

HTC Magic Gets HTC Sense
The HTC Magic now has multi touch support and improved ease of use thanks to the latest software upgrade. The new ROM upgrade ( Version: 3.05.401.3 ) brings HTC Sense to the Magic. The HTC Hero was the first to get HTC Sense and now the HTC Magic benefits too.
HTC Sense lets you customise your HTC Magic via its Android Sense User Interface and creates a phone right for you. Basically, HTC Sense lets you customize your experience how you like and makes everything you do on your phone so much easier.
The update will take 10 minutes but note that this upgrade will erase any data stored on the phone so back up all your data before performing this upgrade.

Sony Ericsson has announced a new mobile, the Sony Ericsson Aspen.
The Sony Ericsson Aspen is a new business mobile that is in Sony Ericsson’s Greenheart range. The GreenHeart range is aimed at reducing the environmental impact of mobiles in any way possible.
The Apsen has a QWERTY keypad, which is perfect for fast and a touch interface. Additional features of the Sony Ericsson Aspen include a 3.2 megapixel camera, built in a-GPS and a 4GB microSD card. The Aspen also comes with a media player, which has PlayNow capability.
Naturally, being a business phone the Aspen supports email, which is incredibly simple to setup. You can easily backup for phones contents using Microsoft MyPhone, which can also remotely erase any sensitive date from your phone if it’s lost or stolen.

LG are to launch another Android mobile, the LG GT540.
TheLG GT540will be a value Android handset, which is a proposition that they also offered with theLG GW620. It will be aimed primarily at social network users and will feature built in applications for Facebook, Twitter, Bebo as well as Youtube and GoogleTalk.
A 3.0 inch touch-screen is present on theLG GT540, which will run at resolution of 320*480 pixels. Acer 3G Smartphones Launched
Two of the first Acer 3G smartphones to be offered are the Acer neoTouch ( Windows 6.5 ) and the Acer Liquid ( Android 1.6 Donut Operating System ). Both Acers have the Snapdragon processor on-board, come with a five megapixel camera and have WVGA displays.
Acer neoTouch and the Acer Liquid come with features such as Microsoft Office Tools, Google maps and social networking applications for Facebook and Flickr.

The Nokia X3 was first announced back in September last year and it’s been quiet ever since. However, the wait is over and the Nokia X3 is going to launch across Europe within the next week.
The Nokia X3 is a budget walkman phone, which is at the bottom of Nokia’s range of music phones. It comes in slider format and will replace the ageing 5310 XpressMusic.

Ovi Store Arrives on the Nokia N900
Nokia recently updated the firmware of the Nokia N900 in preparation for the launch of the Ovi store, which is live right now!
Previously applications had to be downloaded through the Maemo Select store, which was limiting the volume of applications developed. With the launch of the Ovi store we can see the number of applications increasing at a rapid rate.
The Ovi store is fully integrated into the Nokia N900 meaning any links or shortcuts to the Ovi store, that users might come across, can now be clicked.
The Nokia N900 is a really powerful device and we can see some hugely advanced applications being launched in the near future. Firefox is already available on the Nokia N900, as Mozilla has made it the priority device for Firefox Mobile.
